New Democratic Party Candidate - Mohinder Saran

Answer 1. I’m co-workers and others who live with disabilities and I see the challenges they face every day in going to school, work, shopping or accessing the services most of us take for granted. I admire the attitude of those people living with disabilities who overcome their challenges and take on life with a sense of humour and grace. They are role models for all of us and a reminder that anyone could find themselves living with disabilities at any time in their lives.

Answer 2. The greatest accessibility challenge is the zoning system that creates barriers for those who use wheelchairs. For example, there are entire neighbourhoods that don't have sidewalks. That forces people in wheelchairs to use the road to travel in their own neighbourhoods, which is very dangerous. I am committed to working with the City to make sure accessibility in our neighbourhoods is improved and to ensure that sidewalks are cleared of snow in the winter. Also, public buildings should be fully accessible, including their washrooms.
